The agency mandated to regulate the practice of the CRA in Ghana is the Medical and Dental Council (MDC). Regulation of the CRAs by the MDC started in 2010 where they were referred to as Physician Assistsants-Anaesthesia.
In the year 2013 Health Professions Regulatory Bodies Act (act 857) was enacted by the Government of Ghana. The establishment of the act saw the name change from Physician Assistant – Anaesthesia to Certified Registered Anaesthetist.
